Property Owners Should Take Heed of the New Digital Title Deeds Regulations

By Bright Maponga Are you a property owner, (i.e.) do you have any title deed registered in your name(s) or company? If so, the time to act is now! The law, as per the new Deeds Registries Regulations, 2025, requires that holders of old title deeds submit them within 24 months for validation process by the Deeds Registry and issuance of the new securitized deeds thereof. The process would require one to submit copies of their old title deeds to the deeds registry, which may request additional information. During submission of the copies, one is further required to furnish the Registrar with the original copies of the old title deeds for verification purposes. Upon successful validation of the old title deeds, the Registrar shall issue securitised deeds to the respective owners printed on a securitised paper.
